The Muslim Food Board (U.K.) was established in 1992. It is an independent organisation serving
Halaal consumers throughout U.K.
There are about one and a half Million Muslims in the UK and over a Billion world-wide.
The commonality between all Muslims is that they must only consume Halaal food. Due to the
fact that it is virtually impossible to establish whether a product is Halaal or not simply
by reading the ingredients, Muslims in the UK found it very difficult to buy only Halaal food
products.
The investigation and certification of food products can be a complex task and it was evident
that a formal organisation to tackle such tasks was needed. The Muslim Food Board (UK) was
established to formalise the investigation and certification of food products.
